Preparing For My Visit to China

On the 15^th of September I’m off to China for close to 4 weeks! It's mostly for work and I have 2 gigs this time.

Now I absolutely love China!

I’ve been going there since 2004 – sometimes up to eight times a year. I am enormously privileged to be teaching at the Excellerated Business School for Entrepreneurs (USA) in conjunction with Doers Group (Shanghai). I feel so grateful! 

The first city where I’m spending 10 days will be beautiful Hangzhou… It’s about 2500 years old and was once where the Wuyue Kingdom and the Southern Song Dynasty were centred. 

Marco Polo once called it  ‘the most beautiful city in the world’. And some of the city still reflects this beauty and history

It was once the centre for fine porcelain as well as the Chinese silk industry and a visit to the current silk market - reputed to be 1km square (my feet know it’s true!) - is one place I’ll definitely be going.

West Lake is Hangzhou’s glorious heart.  The photo below I took about 12 years ago. It says everything about this stunning place.

The other city I’m visiting as the guest of Stan’s and my business coaching client is Guangzhou.

This will be new – though I spent a few hours in it’s vast airport on my way to Chengdu a few years ago. We’re very excited and honoured to be asked by Michael and his wife Bing Bing.

I’ll let you know what I find out about this vast sea port!

I’m planning on a gift for them both and after attending an impasto class with my teacher Jacqueline last week, I decided to do two small impasto paintings of Australian wildflowers, one golden wattle and the other red gumnut blossoms.
